I'z gonna treat myself to a new graphics card.
nVidia or ATI :?:
I want to keep to a sub £100 budget.
I've been looking at a 9800GT 512MB @ around £85 to replace my 8600GT 256MB.
Alternatively a HD5750 512MB @ around £85 too.

I know that the ATI card doesn't produce the water effect on 'BioShock' like the nVidia does but I think I can live without that if the ATI is better value :?

:D lost of room for upgrading then :P

i upgraded from the 512MB 8600GT to a 9800GTX+ 512MB and a year down the line its STILL running everything i throw at it on very high to full settings. geting a GTX 200 series card will properly be more worth the cash now id bet. its true ATI are still priducing better card power atm although theres properly little diffrence between and ATI and Nvidia of simerler specs.

Far as I can tell those two card are pretty even in terms of grunt, but the ATI gives you DX11, better multi-monitor support and DisplayPort connectors. Don't know anything about ATI & Bioshock problems though. When I played it on my 3850 I didn't notice any problems with water :?:

I think that the DX11 support on Win 7 is a must for 'future proofing'.
ATI wins :)

I'll get 1 ordered up.

The water effect. I played Bioshock on my friends computer, he has Intel Q8400 with ATI 4550, when you pass through the flowing water on that it didn't make the screen wibbly wobbly like it has water passing over it, like mine does. Maybe it was he's settings.

I still don't see DX11 being a issue for a time yet since even though DX10 has been around since Vista was released and yet games are still using DX9c most properly down to Microsoft's retarded choice of making it a Vista and now /7 only thing. if that will change now with Windows 7 not being the POS that Vista is i don't know buts its going to be interesting see how it turns out.

Time for a try out.

'Grid' plays much better, nice & smooth, & other games appear to have much less processor usage :)

I like it
